Redistrict Colorado: August Updates & Next Steps
We’ve made big progress on the Defensive Gerrymander Guard Act (DGG Act) — our proposal to give the Colorado Governor and legislature emergency redistricting powers when other states push extreme partisan gerrymanders that hurt Colorado’s representation in Congress.
Bill Draft Finished
The full text of the DGG Act is now live on Redistrict.co.
It spells out:
How emergency redistricting can be triggered — by the Governor or by a majority of the legislature.
When it can be used — if another state’s maps cause severe partisan imbalance or voter disenfranchisement that harms Colorado.
What happens next — suspending the Independent Congressional Redistricting Commission for the rest of the Governor’s term and appointing a Temporary Emergency Commission to redraw Colorado’s districts.
